COURSE OVERVIEW

           

 

            Congratulations and welcome to the Training Center! I hope you are excited to learn what I consider the best aircraft this company has ever made! Allow me to explain how your course is designed.

            The course is divided into two phases. The first phase is called Systems Integration. During this portion of the course you will focus on learning the various systems of the aircraft and the normal procedures. You will also become familiar with the non-normal procedures and how they relate to the systems.

            To accomplish this you will be issued a company laptop loaded with all the materials you will need. You will spend the next two days accomplishing Computer-Based Training (CBT). CBT allows you to learn the aircraft systems at your own pace and at times convenient to you. The CBT is loaded with great graphics, is interactive, and incorporates quizzes to ensure you understand before advancing. You can accomplish this using your issued laptop at your hotel, or you can use the dedicated computers here at the Training Center.

            After those two days of CBT, we will begin training in the Fixed-Base Simulator (FBS). There we will practice normal procedures and the systems as they relate to normal operations. Your laptops will contain all the lessons with references on where to study to prepare.

We will begin each lesson with a 1 ½ hour pre-briefing where I will highlight the events and systems we will be practicing and answer any questions. Next we’ll use the FBS for 2 hours to practice the procedures and using the systems. We will then complete the session with a ½ hour debrief to review, answer any lingering questions, and preview the next lesson. There are 10 of these lessons in the curriculum. The tenth FBS lesson will be conducted in the Full Flight Simulator (FFS), but with the motion and visuals turned off.

Following the FBS phase, you will be tested on your systems knowledge through a 2 hour oral exam conducted by an FAA-designated evaluator.

Phase two of the course is conducted in the FFS. Here you will get to use your accumulated knowledge of normal procedures and familiarity with non-normal procedures. In addition, you will learn the handling    characteristics of the aircraft and accomplish flights with full-motion and visuals for the simulation. Each of these lessons is essentially the same as the FBS: a 1 ½ hour pre-brief, a 4 hour simulator session (with a break at 2 hours), and finishing with a ½ hour debrief. There are 8 of these lessons.

Following both phases of the training, you will be tested on your comprehensive knowledge with a simulator flight incorporating both normal and non-normal events. This, too, will be assessed by a FAA-designated evaluator. At completion, your annotated materials will be transferred to a flash drive for you to reload on your own computer or Tablet.

Two web sites that you might find helpful are schedule.tbc.com and tbc.com. The schedule site has updates on times for each lesson and which device will used. The second site is a generic site with latest news on the aircraft, updates to manuals, contacts information and a host of other helpful information.
